Waterskiing!

It's summer!  Everybody say yay!  Ok.....I will calm down now.
Since it is summer, I felt is was time to share some photos featuring one of my favorite summertime activities: Waterskiing!  Thanks to my parents who have a boat of their own, I have a plethora of photos to share on this subject.

The photos below are from various trips on the boat--not just one day.  The skiers pictured are (in order of appearance): Mark, Karl, Adam (remember him from previous posts?  See here: Escher, Fashionable), and Tyler.

Mark--AKA: my father!  I'll say it again and again--the guy is in better shape than I am!

You may notice there are some serious faces of concentration in these photos--waterskiing is not easy!

Karl--giving me a great background with the water spray as he changes direction.  The water spray behind the skiers was such fun to try and capture in a photograph.

Adam--lookin' good as always.

You'll notice they either have the normal two skis or the less usual one ski.  Using only one ski is called "Slalom Skiing," which is much more difficult (at least I have never been able to do it!).  And yes, I just looked that up on Wikipedia to make sure I spelled it correctly ;)

Jumping!  Tyler was attempting to jump from one side of the boat's wake to the other--he made it!

Tyler Slalom-ing and providing me with even more opportunities to capture that glorious water spray.

My favorite of the bunch--even though it's not super action-y, I like the "V" that is created by the water spray.

They were good times on the boat--as always.  I would really love to get some other points of view of the skiers than from the boat, but that would require a second watercraft to drive alongside.  Any body have a jet ski I can borrow?

Baby Hattie--More Newborn Cuteness!

Several months ago, I had the absolutely wonderful opportunity to photograph my friend's newborn son, Conrad.  Maybe you remember seeing the post? (if not, check it out here!)  Well, I had another fabulous opportunity to photograph some more newborn cuteness--my friends' daughter Hattie!

Hattie was so small when I first met her--and oh so cute!  She was born on April 9th to two of the most loving parents in the world: John and Cynthia Dement (2 of my closest friends).  Not to mention the best aunt in the world--Me! ;)

We had the session in Cynthia and John's bedroom--it had such beautiful morning light coming through the windows.  Seriously--anytime I can use an open window instead of inside lighting, I will do it.  The sun is always my preference--why mess with god given light?

Mother and Daughter :)
So sweet, and I like that you can see her wedding/engagement rings on her hand in front.  That was not planned, but a happy accident.

Father and Daughter :)
I swear there is nothing more precious than the love a father has for his daughter.
I also love the coffee mug on the dresser in the background.  I had actually cleaned it off so it would be clear for the photo, and then John put his mug there.  It actually turned out perfectly.
(Plus do you see what I mean about window light?  right?)

So, why are babies so cute?  Because of all their little heads, little finger, little toes, and.....they're just so little!
Some detail shots.  Baby hair whirl--awwww.

Baby Hattie feet :)

Baby Hattie fingers :)

Baby Hattie :)
In case you were wondering--yes, this is still in Cynthia and John's bedroom.  I have a black  fuzzy blanket that I draped over a bumpy and laid Hattie on top.  No fancy lighting tricks--just an open window.

Isn't she sweet?  I think this was the only time I was able to get her hands to unclench and lay flat.  So glad I was able to capture this before she woke up!

Congratulations Cynthia and John!  I am so lucky to be your "official" family photographer.  It has been such a blessing to see you two go from dating to engaged to married to pregnant to parents!  I can't wait to see what God has planned for you in the future :)  I love you both--I mean all three of you!
